Sandy Wegman's Accomplishments and Goals

During the past twelve years, Sandy has worked to transform the Recorder's Office into one that is efficient, technologically advanced and user-friendly. Sandy lists among those improvements making documents available on the web at no cost, implementing a new computer system and scan stations, reducing turn-around time in returning documents , the installation of Social Security redacting software to remove Social Security numbers from all digital documents, reducing head count, and returning space to the county by consolidating services, all while staying within budget.

Sandy's goals for the next four years include reviewing and implementing new technologies to better serve the public and increasing the depth of the back files. Currently, documents are scanned and indexed back to 1979 while images go back to the 1950s.

With the land records, Sandy knows the Recorder's office establishes the history of Kane County. “The land records from 1835 to the present are maintained here,” she said, “and the documents we store enable a person to buy, sell or transfer property with a clear title. The Recorder's office contains the official records which identify the rightful owner as well as identifying the boundary lines for every parcel of land. In addition, we are responsible for recording and maintaining billions of dollars’ worth of financial documents – mortgages – in an organized system.”

“It takes years of experience to become skillful in searching for documents and understanding how the previous recorders indexed their documents. It is the County Recorder who has the indispensable task of safekeeping all of the public records pertaining to ownership of real estate and all liens upon it.

“My twelve years as Recorder makes me the most experienced and best qualified candidate for this vitally important office and I would appreciate your support.

Thank you for your interest and continued support. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. I look forward to continuing to serve as your County Recorder.
